Aidar at the Forefront of Europe’s XR Future – Representing Poland in Brussels

In the recent days I had the privilege of representing Aidar Solutions — and Poland — at a pivotal meeting of the Virtual and Augmented Reality Industrial Coalition, hosted by the European Commission in Brussels. Over 110 delegates from more than 80 private and public organizations came together for an intense, collaborative session focused on shaping the future of immersive technologies in Europe
As the CEO of a company deeply embedded in industrial XR and actively contributing to the EU VR/AR Industrial Coalition since 2022, I view this gathering not only as a symbolic moment — but as a strategic inflection point for Europe’s digital autonomy and industrial innovation.
Key Policy Themes: Competitiveness, Innovation, and Strategic Sovereignty
Throughout the day, discussions were driven by Europe’s long-term technological agenda, including:
- The EU Competitiveness Compass
- Simplifying access to innovation support for SMEs and startups
- Building a common framework for Virtual Worlds and XR development
It was encouraging to hear a strong political consensus on the need to invest in European-made immersive technologies — not just to keep up with global trends, but to lead with ethical standards, open systems, and human-centric design principles.
The Elephant in the Room: Platform Dependency
One of the most dynamic and sensitive topics of the day was Europe’s deep reliance on US-based platforms — from game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine, to XR hardware and infrastructure provided by Meta and Microsoft.
The question many of us posed — both publicly and in private conversations — was clear:
Is Europe’s creative and industrial XR future safe if it depends on tools and platforms we do not own, control, or shape?
The answers varied. Some argued that interoperability and open standards reduce this risk. Others, myself included, emphasized that real sovereignty requires not just policy, but platforms — built and led by European innovators.
At Aidar, we’ve built exactly that:
A scalable, hardware-agnostic XR platform made in Europe for industrial clients worldwide — from VR diagnostics to multi-user collaboration and AI-assisted training.
Strategic Direction: Virtual Worlds Partnership & Siemens’ Leadership
Another key outcome of the meeting was the announcement of Siemens as the lead industrial partner in the Virtual Worlds Public-Private Partnership with the European Commission. This signals a shift from pilot projects to systemic implementation — especially in areas like digital twins, logistics, maintenance, and training for high-risk environments.
As a company already working with global industrial leaders and aligning with EU guidelines for XR standardization and safety, Aidar is uniquely positioned to contribute to this emerging landscape.
We’ve been preparing for this moment for years.
Why This Matters — and What Comes Next
Brussels was not just a networking event or policy talk. It was a signal that Europe is taking immersive technologies seriously — as a pillar of its future economy and digital sovereignty.
We at Aidar will continue:
- Advocating for open, European-led XR platforms
- Designing with industrial users and EU standards in mind
- Delivering products that give our clients not just tools — but freedom, ownership, and control
We’re proud to stand for Poland, and proud to stand with Europe — not just watching the future of Virtual Worlds unfold, but helping build it.
